The Turner Diaries by Andrew Macdonald

So I know I've heard about this book sometime in my high school years and I never came around to reading it. The I came across it again while I was watching a movie with Daniel Radcliffe which was really good and it was mentioned again. The movie is called Imperium and you guys should definitely watch it! this move really made me want to read this book. I've read plenty of reviews online and most of them say that this book is one of the most racist pieces of literature around. This book was the so called "bible" for various crimes. When I first heard about this book I thought it was nonfiction but I was surprised to find out that this book is fiction. This tiny little book really became the source for some of the most outrageous crimes.

Now I am not entirely sure about this statement but I heard that this book was far worse than Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler. Woah.. seriously? So I was even more curious about this this book. i finally took it out of the library and decided to read it. So far there is some pretty insane stuff. Its interesting that the author chose to write the book in this manner and its interesting to read about the impact that this book has on people. I am not a fan of the contents of this book at all but wow... its insane that people base their way of thinking because of this book.

I've been absent since 2015!

Well guys.. I've been absent since 2015. Can you believe it? I sure can't. A lot of things happened in the past two years. I'm currently on break from school. Taking a break from writing endless English papers and reading Middle English literature is pretty good right now. Oh yea.. I'm finishing my English degree! I use to complain that I never had time to read but now? Well at least while I was in school I didn't have time to read what I wanted.

Summer break is here! and guess what? I'm getting my hands on anything and everything that I want to read! I will try my very hardest to keep up to date with my blog because I've missed it=) Side note.. I am reading the Percy Jackson series (again). Don't you just hate when you watch the movie so many times that you immediately forget what REALLY happens in the book and what was just added for the movie? Yes. That is why I'm reading this series again haha

The Magician's Nephew/ The lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

Yes I know.. I never started this series when I was younger. I already had the first and second book sitting on my shelf since I was like 12. Then the movie came out for The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Yes I saw the movie first because I thought I wasn't going to read the actual series. I don't know really.. I wasn't all that interested to begin with. Come to find out I was so wrong!!! Don't you just love when that happens? The books you think you won't be interested in turn out to be the good ones? This happened to me with The Giver by Lois Lowry.

So I finally started The Magician's Nephew and let me just tell you.. It was so cool to actually read about the stuff that happened before The lion, the witch, and the wardrobe. Stuff I would have never found out if I didn't read the book. Everyone has their own story and I just think thats so cool! Even Professor Kirke! I finished this book in a day because I couldn't put it down! Now I'm kind of upset that they didn't turn it into a movie. Ugh, I absolutely hate when they don't follow things in chronological order =(

Now I'm reading The lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. It is taking me a bit longer to finish because I did originally see the movie first (Ugh why did I do that? It's just not in my nature). I despise the fact that I basically know some of the things that happens before I read about it =(.

***** I just want to start my fat book already! I own the complete set of The Chronicles of Narnia in one giant book! I just happen to own the first two in single books.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne

Yes I know, this book was not under my "Currently Reading" section. I couldn't help myself I already owned this book and I just haven't gotten around to actually reading it. Anyone that knows me knows that I have to read the book first before watching the movie. Unfortunately it wasn't the case with this book. I've seen the movie awhile ago on tv. I didn't know that it was a book to begin with. I suppose I'm off the hook? I decided to read the book and give it a chance after watching the movie on Netflix for the 3rd time. I can't explain exactly what it is about me reading the book first. In the book I don't like to know what's going to happen next and I don't like it to be ruined. I don't mind it in the movie and I always like to compare it to what I read.

Well enough of my rant. I did enjoy the book just as much as the movie. Obviously the book is always going to be better than the movie. Overall the movie does follow the book. I wouldn't say entirely but for the most part it does. I definitely don't want to go into detail about the book in case some of you haven't read it. Some of you may classify this story as a children's book or an adult book. The author describes his story as just a book. It doesn't fall into any category really. Yes, the story is about two small boys during the reign of Hitler. I believe that children and adults will enjoy this book. I liked it because it gave a different perspective during the reign of Hitler. I am so used to reading from the perspective of adults that I rarely come into contact with a child's perspective.

**Please read the book before watching the movie

The Diary of Anne Frank

Unfortunately I've been stuck in a sort of coma when it comes to reading. Constantly going to the library and Barnes & Noble to pick up some books. The point is I haven't been reading for quite some time now. It wasn't until a few weeks ago that I decided to read The Diary of Anne Frank. Perhaps I was watching Freedom Writers or something.

I've had this book since the 7th grade. I read it and I remember enjoying it. As I got older I forgot about many things that happened in the diary. Of course I knew the basic stuff and what happens to Anne in the end but I forgot a lot go the events in between. So i decided to read it again, and now I'm 24 years old. Reading this book now that I'm older is a very different experience. I related to Anne more which is weird because she was 14 and now I'm "older" than her. Perhaps the first time I chose to read this book, I wasn't ready yet. I appreciate it more now that I'm older if that makes sense. I enjoyed reading this book again and I highly recommend people to read her diary for a second time.. especially if they've read it at a young age =)

P.S I am officially back on Booklikes and I can't wait to read more books now.
